Trustee of Pate’s Grammar School Foundation

About Us

The Trustees, as a collective body, are responsible for the direction and management of the Pate’s Grammar School Foundation established by Richard Pate in 1574 and now a company limited by guarantee and registered charity.  The objectives of the Foundation are as follows:

  • To support the Pate’s Grammar School Academy and the Richard Pate School (RPS)
  • To provide assistance to pupils and ex-pupils (under the age of 25)
  • To operate RPS.

In summary the role is as follows:

We have vacancies on our Foundation Board and are looking for trustees with a range of backgrounds and experiences to join our team (see skill set below).  Previous Board experience would be beneficial but not a requirement.

  • The anticipated basic Trustee commitment is 2-3 hours for up to 12 days per year
  • The normal term of office is 4 years with the possibility for re-election
  • This is a voluntary position but expenses including training costs will be covered by prior approval

The optimal skill set for the Trustee body:

To enable the Foundation to best meet the responsibilities set out above, it is believed the following skills and expertise would be of assistance to the Trustee body although the list is not exhaustive:

  • Commercial & Corporate Leadership
  • Business Management
  • Accountancy
  •  Education Professional including SEND expertise
  • Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
  • Property e.g architect/surveyor/town planner
  • Legal Professionals (land, trust, educational, employment law)
  • Investment Management
  • IT/Cyber Professional
  • HR Professional
  • Strategic Professional
  • Medical Professional
