Dear Parents,
The Year 6 children have been involved in external examinations and have acquitted themselves very well indeed. The Independent Senior School examinations continue in the New Year and we should have a clear idea by the first of March about their destinations for next year. On the sports field we have had some very encouraging rugby, football and hockey from our boys and girls.
End of term events have included the Prep. tree lighting ceremony, the Nursery production of ‘The Snowman’s Party’ and, of course, the Prep. Nativity ‘CHRISTMAS spells Christmas’ which I know was a great success filling everyone with the true Christmas spirit ~ photos of all these events, together with other activities, are now regularly updated on our website and we encourage all of you to visit the Gallery section at www.richardpate.co.uk.
As I write, we now look forward to the last prestigious event of term, namely the Junior Department Carol Service, this year to be held at Cheltenham College Chapel and I am only sorry that, because of the numbers involved, we have to exclude Prep. and Nursery.
I would remind you that if your child is unable to do games, a letter of explanation should be sent to either Mr. Edwards or Mrs. Powell. Next term boys should have for games, shin pads and a mouth guard and the girls will also need a pair of short white socks. Also, to try to reduce the amount of lost property, can I please ask that you ensure every item of clothing, both uniform and games kit, be clearly named.
Miss Wright would like to thank everyone who participated in the recent Book Fair which raised over £700 in commission to be spent on books while the PTA raised over £1,000 at the Christmas Fayre. Once again many thanks for your continued support of these events.
After Christmas there will be a change of venue for After School Club which will now be held in the Nursery and starts again on Thursday, 10th January. This will give us the security of having everything in one building which will make things a lot easier for staff and for parents when collecting. Bookings should still be made via the office and before 12 noon please but there is the added advantage of a direct line telephone number should parents be delayed when collecting their child.
All that remains is for me to wish you season’s greetings and a very happy New Year.
Yours sincerely,
Robert MacDonald
